Newport and Lighthouse Tour

We'll begin our trek to the Oregon coast along scenic backroads paralleling Colonel T. E. Hogg's old transcontinental railroad line dating back to the 1880's.  We'll see Oregon's top coastal port -- including the working fishing fleet -- along Newport's Bayfront and cannery row.  We'll visit Oregon State University's Hatfield Marine Science Center (an alternate to HMSC is the Newport Aquarium for an additional $20 fee per person) and see the future home of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's pacific fleet.  We'll cross Yaquina Bay on Oregon's tallest coast bridge built by Oregon's master bridge builder C.B. McCullough.  We'll break for lunch and have a chance for local shopping at Newport's best beach access at historic and art centric Nye Beach.    After lunch you'll visit the picturesque Yaquina Head Lighthouse (Oregon tallest lighthouse) and its interpretive center before returning back to your hotel.
