Covered Bridges of Linn County

It is said that Linn County has the best collection of covered bridges west of the Mississippi.  So make sure you take advantage of the opportunity.  You'll briefly tour historic Albany before hitting the country roads of Linn County.  We'll see where Albany began, the city founders' home, the Monteith House.  We'll look at the historic downtown area which sprung up along the river, Albany's riverboat connection with the rest of the world.   Along the way we will stop at the Thompson's Mill State Heritage Site to see Oregon's last water powered flour and grist mill.  Then we'll head off to Linn county's famous covered bridges.  We see seven romantic covered bridges from the Weddle Bridge in Sweet Home's Sankey Park (Home of famous the Oregon Jamboree, the best country and western music venue in the West) to the Shemanek Bridge spanning Thomas Creek on Richardson Gap Road.  Along the way we'll have a couple of stops to taste or purchase locally prepared or grown food before returning to your hotel.
